Yes Ruth I asked in H&B for advice and they suggested Dr Organic Aloe Vera Shampoo. It helps with the tingling and itching somewhat but it does very little for the dryness.

U could ask your derm guy for a mild wash solution that contains healing ingredients. Worked for me!

Good morning! Great question. Aloe vera does have some properties that may benefit the scalp, including anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and moisturizing effects. However, research specifically on aloe vera for seborrheic dermatitis is quite limited.

It's also worth knowing that aloe vera can cause side effects in some people, such as:

- Burning or itching
- Skin rashes
- Allergic reactions

Before continuing, it's a good idea to patch test the shampoo on a small area of skin for 7–10 days to check for any reaction. Nizoral (ketoconazole), on the other hand, is a well-established antifungal treatment that directly targets the Malassezia yeast linked to seborrheic dermatitis. It has a much stronger evidence base for managing symptoms like flaking, itching, and scaling.

Other medicated shampoo options worth knowing about include:

- Selenium sulfide
- Zinc pyrithione
- Salicylic acid
- Coal tar

The best move would be to check in with a dermatologist. They can help figure out whether the aloe vera shampoo is enough or whether something like Nizoral would work better for your specific situation.
