Coal tar shampoo helps mine.

What calmed my scalp was pine tar. Our bodies are different and we respond differently. I just got a bar of squash soap pine tar and love the way it cleaned my scalp and took the loose sebum and flakes off. It left my hair very soft and scalp very clean. No itching today. Amazon has it and they have a website.

There are several medicated shampoo options that can help calm an inflamed, itchy scalp. The most effective ingredients to look for include ketoconazole, selenium sulfide, zinc pyrithione, and salicylic acid. For best results, let the medicated shampoo sit on your scalp for at least 5 minutes before rinsing.

Many MySebDermTeam members have found success by rotating between different medicated shampoos every few weeks, as this can help maintain effectiveness. Some use ketoconazole 2% shampoo every other day, while others alternate between different types. Before starting any new shampoo treatment, it's important to check with your doctor or dermatologist. They can recommend whether you should start with over-the-counter products or if you need prescription-strength options. They can also ensure you're choosing products that will improve rather than aggravate your condition.
