My Sebhorreic Dermatitis Is Being Very Stubborn. What Has Worked For Others?

A MySebDermTeam Member asked a question 💭
Dunedin, FL

My dermatologist prescribed Ketoconazole shampoo 2% and subsequently Metametasone Furoate Topical Solution for my sebhorreic dermatitis. Neither seems to be working. I'll be seeing my dermatologist soon. Any suggestions I should discuss with her? TIA.

If ketoconazole shampoo and mometasone furoate aren't effective, you could discuss alternative treatments with your dermatologist. Options include:

1. Selenium Sulfide: Found in shampoos like Selsun Blue, it targets yeast and reduces flaking
2. Coal Tar: Helps with scaling but may stain.
3. Calcineurin Inhibitors: Show Full Answer
